No Need To Shy Away From Roller Shades

If you shy away from roller shades for your windows because you envision those dull white or horrible yellowish vinyl type rollers from when you were a kid and went to grandmas house. You can stop right there. Roller shades have come a long way since the days of your grandmother. Not only are they a very practical window treatment, but they can also add a lot of class to your windows and to the room the windows are in.

In the market of window treatments today, shades are probably the cheapest way to go if you want a combination of decorative quality and privacy. You also get durability as well as the fact that they are extremely easy to clean. They also take up very little space in your window area and can keep out the sun and heat and are great to block at that glare you might get at certain times of the day.

Being able to control exactly how much sun you want penetrating any given room is a very nice feature of window shades. It is extremely easy to control by simply rolling the window shades to whatever height you want to control the sun coming into the room.

With a huge variety of different materials to choose from it makes it easier to find just the right material that will fit your needs for light control as well as heat control. By having shades you can control the amount of sun you want coming in and warming the room. Control of the window shades can be done with a continuous loop rope that allows you to manually raise or lower your shades. Or for a more expensive way you can always get motorized shades that are controlled with a remote control for lowering or raising the window shades.

Before going out to buy your shades though, it is important that you decide on whether you want to mount your shades on the outside of your window or if you want them mounted on the inside of your window. The easiest and most popular way to mount them would probably be the outside mount. With the inside mount you need to have extremely accurate measurements for the width and length more so than you do with the outside mount.

Mounting on the outside is far easier and only requires you to decide how far on each side of the window that you want the brackets to be and then measure length from the bracket area to the bottom of your window.

The inside mount does not fit all windows either. They are not even more difficult to get measurements, but they also are a little more difficult to install as well. Bay windows are an example of a type of window that cannot handle inside mounts. Many stores that sell shades will agree that the outside mount is far easier and better for the majority of windows.

You will discover that when you go shopping for shades that there are a vast variety of beautiful colors from neutral to vibrant colors.
